Wood Dog Stairs

Stairs used for dogs to reach out to a particular place in our house

The purpose of dog stairs is to provide an easy access for the dogs to our house from their house. The dog stairs can also be referred to as dog ramps.these dog stairs enables the pets to reach out to the higher place easily just preventing them from jumping.

Dog stairs are chosen by considering the following points into account:

(1)Height – Height in general refers to the distance lying between two consecutive steps.Normal value for hieght in case of human stairs is between 6 and 7 inch.but the height of the dog stairs should not exceed this.hence the height of the steps lies as a major factor to  purchase dog stairs.

(2)Depth – Another important thing to be noticed while purchasing the dog stairs is the depth. It is difficult for a dog to climb the stairs with less depth since it has four legs.hence the depth can be normally between 10 and 12 inch which can also be regarded as the ideal value of depth. The dog ramps takes larger ground place to reach a place.Hence dog stairs are seem to be more advantageous than dog ramps as they occupy only a lesser ground place.

(3)Materials – The Dog Stairs is chosen based on their material which corresponds to their usage either indoor or outdoor.Generally the stairs made for outdoor purposes are designed using tougher materials when compared to those used for indoor stairs.

There are about several steps to train a scared dog to get on the stairs:

STEP 1- Take your dog and dog stairs to any nearby public place like a park which is an already adapted place by your pet, otherwise that itself create an issue until the dog gets adapted to that particular environment. Sit  on the last step of the stairs with dog.Play  around the stairs with your dog. The first day if your dog is getting scared much on looking at the stairs initially, then maintain the distance of upto 5 feet from the stairs.then slowly get your dog closer to the stairs each day.

STEP 2 – Try to get rid of your dog’s threat over dog stairs

STEP 3 – Go to the final step of the stair which may be either third or fifth and place a dog’s bone on the step which is two steps behind the final step.

STEP 4 – Make your dog toget the bone by encouraging it.this enables your dog to get down the steps easily.

It is highly important to stop the training process if any signs of aggression is been encountered.Growling and Baring teeth are the most common sign of aggression shown by dogs.Apart from these signs snapping by keeping its ears back also defines its sign of aggression.

A break should be given to your dog every time after aggression.it’s not good to give more stress to your dogs which results in a critical mood for you as well as your dog.

Training of your pet or dogs to climb up the stairs during bad mood is not much encouraged.
